Wild Rift Patch 7.2a: All Champion & Item Changes Explained

Patch 7.2a balances Nidalee, Warwick, Skarner, Senna and Yuumi, plus mana items and boots. Here is what actually changed and what it means for your climb.

Wild Rift Patch 7.2a: Everything You Need to Know About the Latest Balance Changes

The Rift is shifting once again. Patch 7.2a brings targeted balance adjustments to champions, items, and boots that will reshape the meta across every role. Whether you are a jungle main, mid lane carry, or support player, these changes will affect your games. Let us break down every adjustment and what it means for your ranked climb.

Riot has focused this patch on toning down overperforming champions while giving struggling ones a helping hand. The item changes particularly target the mana itemization path that has dominated builds for the past few weeks. Here is your complete breakdown of Patch 7.2a.

Champion Changes: Who Got Buffed and Nerfed?

Nidalee - Nerfed

Nidalee has been absolutely dominant in the jungle, especially in the hands of skilled players who can land her spears consistently. Her burst damage has been excessive, leaving opponents with almost no window to react once she commits to a fight.

The developers have trimmed her damage output to give squishier targets a better chance of survival:

  • Pounce (Cougar Form Q) - Base damage reduced from 65/100/135/170 to 55/90/125/160. This is a significant nerf to her jungle clear speed and gank potential.
  • Aspect of the Cougar (Ultimate) - The bonus Armor and Magic Resist from Ability Power ratio decreased from 3% to 2.5%. This makes her slightly less tanky when building AP items.

What this means: Nidalee will still be viable but will need to be more careful about when she commits to fights. Her early game jungle clear will be slightly slower, giving enemy junglers more opportunities to invade or counter-gank.

Warwick - Nerfed

Warwick has been a nightmare for opponents in the top lane and jungle. Once he locks onto a target with his ultimate, there is very little room to escape. His sustained damage has been oppressive, and this patch aims to give his prey a fighting chance.

  • Eternal Hunger (Passive) - Bonus Attack Damage ratio reduced from 20% to 15%. This impacts his sustained damage in extended trades.
  • Jaws of the Beast (Q) - Fixed damage reduced from 90% Ability Power to 85% Ability Power. A minor but noticeable nerf to his burst.

What this means: Warwick will still be strong but opponents will have slightly more time to react and trade back damage. His jungle clear remains healthy, so expect him to still be a common pick.

Skarner - Buffed

The newest champion to Wild Rift has been underperforming since his release. Skarner struggles in skirmishes and his ganks have not been impactful enough to justify picking him over other junglers. This patch gives him meaningful buffs across the board.

  • Shattered Earth / Upheaval (Passive) - Third empowered attacks and Max Health damage increased from 10% to 11%. A solid buff to his sustained damage.
  • Seismic Bastion (W) - Cooldown reduced from 9/8/7/6s to 8/7/6/5s. Shield ratio based on Health increased from 8% to 10%. This makes him significantly tankier.
  • Ixtal's Impact (Ultimate) - Cooldown reduced from 20/18/16/14s to 18/16/14/12s. More frequent engagement opportunities.

What this means: Skarner should now be a legitimate jungle pick. His increased tankiness and reduced cooldowns make him much more effective in both ganks and teamfights. If you have been waiting to try Skarner, now is the time.

Senna - Nerfed

Senna has been overperforming in both the support and ADC roles. Her poke damage and shielding have been too strong, making her lane phase oppressive and her teamfight presence overwhelming.

  • Absolution (Passive) - Current health damage reduced from 1.2%-12% (based on level) to 1%-10% (based on level). This reduces her poke damage against tanky targets.
  • Dawning Shadow (Ultimate) - Shield reduced from 40% Ability Power + 4 per Mist stack to 50% Ability Power + 2.5 per Black Mist stack. The AP ratio increased but the Mist stack bonus decreased significantly.

What this means: Senna will still be strong but her oppressive lane phase should be more manageable. Her ultimate shielding is still impactful but not as game-breaking as before.

Yuumi - Buffed

Yuumi has felt weaker than intended since the last patch. Her healing output has not been keeping up with the damage output of carries, making her feel less impactful in fights. This patch aims to restore her sustained healing power.

  • Zoomies (E) - Mana cost reduced from 80/90/100/110 to 65/75/85/95. This allows Yuumi to heal more frequently without running out of mana.
  • Final Chapter (Ultimate) - Base healing increased from 20/30/40 to 20/35/50. A meaningful buff to her teamfight healing.

What this means: Yuumi should now feel much more impactful as a healer. The reduced mana costs mean she can sustain her carries through longer fights, making her a more viable support pick.

Item Changes: The Mana Itemization Rework

This patch brings significant changes to the mana item path that has been dominant in many builds. If you play mages or mana-hungry champions, these changes will directly affect your itemization.

Tear of the Goddess

The foundation of the mana item path has been adjusted. Tear of the Goddess has been too accessible early, making its stacking too efficient and allowing champions to reach their power spikes too quickly.

  • Mana Charge - Max Mana increased per stack reduced from 6 to 5. This slows down the stacking speed slightly.

Manamune

With Tear of the Goddess now a basic item, Manamune has been reaching its power spike too quickly. The developers are slowing its stacking speed and reducing the damage from Muramana's passive.

  • Mana Charge - Max Mana increased per stack reduced from 18 to 14. A significant nerf to stacking speed.
  • Muramana - Shock Passive - Attack Damage ratio of bonus damage when abilities deal damage reduced from 6% to 4.5%. This impacts champions who rely on Muramana for burst damage.

Seraph's Embrace

With the updated item progression, Seraph's Embrace has been providing more shielding than intended. The shield strength has been reduced to bring it back in line with other items.

  • Lifeline Passive - Shield ratio based on Mana reduced from 20% to 16%. This is a meaningful nerf to the shield strength.

Blade of the Ruined King

After its Attack Damage was buffed in a previous patch, Blade of the Ruined King has been performing better than expected on melee champions. The developers are making a direct nerf to bring it back in line.

  • Ruined Strikes Passive - Target current health damage reduced from 10% to 8.5% for melee champions. This is a significant nerf to the item's effectiveness on melee fighters.

Armorcrusher Boots

Armorcrusher Boots have been outperforming other Tier 3 boots, especially on champions best suited to them. The stats have been reduced to give opponents more room to respond.

  • Base Stats - Armor Penetration reduced from 12 to 10. Attack Damage reduced from 25 to 20. This makes them less dominant as a boot choice.

ARAM Changes: AAA ARAM Updates

The ARAM game mode has received several adjustments to balance augmentations and champion performance.

Augment Adjustments

  • Mountain Mover - Time required per stack increased from 1s to 1.25s. Active duration reduced from 6s to 5s. This makes the augmentation less dominant.
  • Whale - All special item build paths have been removed.

Battlefield Adjustments

  • Minion Movement speed increased by 50 after 10 minutes of game time.
  • Champion respawn timer increased by 5 seconds after 15 minutes of game time.
  • Added Legionary Potion to the shop for 3,333 gold.

How These Changes Affect the Meta

Winners of Patch 7.2a

  • Skarner - The biggest winner. Significant buffs make him a viable jungle pick.
  • Yuumi - Her healing is now much more impactful, making her a stronger support choice.
  • Mage Champions - The mana item nerfs affect AD champions more, giving mages a相对 advantage.

Losers of Patch 7.2a

  • Nidalee - Still viable but no longer the dominant jungler she was.
  • Warwick - Slightly weaker but still a strong pick.
  • AD Casters - The Manamune and Muramana nerfs hurt champions who rely on these items.
  • Senna - Less oppressive in lane but still a solid support pick.

Items to Watch

  • Blade of the Ruined King - Melee champions will need to reconsider this item in their builds.
  • Armorcrusher Boots - Other boot options may become more attractive.
  • Seraph's Embrace - Shielding mages will need to adjust their expectations.

Tips for Adapting to Patch 7.2a

If You Play Jungle

  • Consider adding Skarner to your champion pool. He is now a legitimate pick.
  • If you play Nidalee, be more careful about when you commit to fights.
  • Warwick is still strong but you may need to play more cautiously in extended trades.

If You Play Mid Lane

  • If you build Manamune or Seraph's Embrace, your power spikes will come later.
  • Consider alternative item builds that do not rely on the mana path.
  • Mages who do not build these items may have a相对 advantage.

If You Play Support

  • Yuumi is now a more viable pick, especially for sustaining carries through fights.
  • Senna is less oppressive but still strong. Do not count her out.
  • Consider how the item changes affect your itemization options.

If You Play ADC

  • Blade of the Ruined King is less effective on melee champions, which may affect certain builds.
  • Armorcrusher Boots are less dominant, so consider other boot options.
  • The meta shifts may open up new champion picks or builds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Skarner good now after the buffs?

Yes, Skarner should be a legitimate jungle pick after these buffs. His increased tankiness and reduced cooldowns make him much more effective in both ganks and teamfights. Give him a try if you have been waiting for him to be viable.

Should I stop building Manamune?

Not necessarily. Manamune is still a strong item, but it will take longer to reach its power spike. If your champion really needs the mana and damage, it is still worth building. Just be aware that your power spike will come later in the game.

Is Yuumi back to being strong?

Yuumi is definitely stronger after these buffs. Her reduced mana costs and increased healing make her a more viable support pick. She may not be top tier yet, but she is much more impactful than before.

Will Nidalee still be played in ranked?

Yes, Nidalee will still be played, but she will need to be more careful about when she commits to fights. Her early game jungle clear is slightly slower, which may affect some matchup dynamics.

What about the ARAM changes?

The ARAM changes are primarily focused on balancing augmentations and champion performance. If you play ARAM regularly, you will notice some champions performing differently. The minion speed changes after 10 minutes will also affect late-game dynamics.
