Free Fire diamonds in one paragraph: Garena Free Fire is a free-to-play mobile battle royale built around roughly ten-minute matches, and Free Fire MAX is a separate, higher-spec app that uses the same account. Diamonds are its paid currency: they buy the Booyah Pass, characters, skins, bundles and Luck Royale spins. The official ways to top up are the in-game store and Garena's own Topup Center.
If you are searching for a Free Fire diamonds top up, you probably want two things: to know what diamonds are worth spending on, and to find a way to pay that works in your country. This guide covers both. It explains the game and Free Fire MAX, the modes and ranked divisions, what diamonds and gold buy, how to top up through Garena and through a store, and how to keep your account out of trouble. Every fact about the game links to a Garena page so you can check it yourself.

What is Garena Free Fire?
Free Fire is Garena's survival shooter for phones. The official site describes it as a free-to-play survival shooter that runs on almost any smartphone, where you take on opponents in Battle Royale, Clash Squad and other modes, and each match lasts about ten minutes. That short match length is a big part of its appeal: you can play a full game on a bus ride, and the game runs on phones that struggle with heavier shooters.

Players drop onto a map, loot weapons and gear, and fight while the safe zone shrinks, until one player or team is left standing. Characters have their own skills, and there is a large wardrobe of outfits, weapon skins and emotes. Garena updates the game in numbered patches; at the time of writing the latest is OB55, published on 10 September 2026, which brought back a NARUTO SHIPPUDEN collaboration and new Clash Squad weapons.
Free Fire and Free Fire MAX: what is the difference?
Free Fire MAX is not a sequel. Garena describes it as a standalone app that offers the same Free Fire gameplay with enhanced specs: higher-resolution maps, extra visual effects and reworked animations. It also gets some features first, such as the Craftland map editor and a customisable 360-degree lobby.
- Same account, same items. Account progress and items are synced between the two apps, so you can log in to MAX with your existing Free Fire account.
- Same diamonds. Because the account is shared, diamonds you top up are the same balance in both apps.
- Players meet in the same matches. The official site says MAX players play with all Free Fire players through its Firelink technology.
- Guest accounts are the exception. Garena warns that guest accounts are not linked between Free Fire and Free Fire MAX, or across devices, which is one more reason to bind your account.
Game modes you can play
The two modes that matter most are Battle Royale and Clash Squad, and both have ranked versions; the OB55 notes, for example, refer to BR-Ranked and CS-Ranked matches separately.
- Battle Royale (BR): the classic mode. Land, loot, survive the shrinking zone and aim for the last place standing, which the game celebrates with a "Booyah".
- Clash Squad (CS): a team mode where you buy your weapons with an in-match currency called CS Cash. OB55 lists new CS weapons arriving with the Clash Squad season on 1 October.
- Craftland: player-made maps that friends on both apps can join, with map creation currently limited to Free Fire MAX.
- Limited-time and collaboration modes: event modes that rotate with each patch.
Starting out? Play Clash Squad to practise your aim and weapon buying in shorter fights, then take what you learn into Battle Royale. In BR, loot a vest and helmet before chasing kills, and keep moving towards the next safe zone early rather than late.
Free Fire ranks and the ranked system
Garena's support page on ranked play lists six divisions, each split into sub-divisions:
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Diamond
- Heroic
Ranked Mode unlocks at level 8 if your account is linked to a login platform, or at level 12 for a guest account. In Battle Royale ranked, a high placement, eliminations and damage all add Rank Points; in Clash Squad ranked, only the winning team progresses. Reach enough points and you are promoted to the next division; drop too low and you are moved down.
Each division gives a one-time reward as you pass it, and season rewards are based on the highest division you reached. When a season ends, ranks are reset, and a strong previous season can start you higher. Playing ranked also earns Rank Tokens, which you exchange for rewards in the Redemption Store.
Diamonds do not buy rank. Rank Points only come from ranked matches. Selling "rank for diamonds" means someone else playing your account, which Garena treats as account sharing.
Diamonds and gold: what each currency buys
Free Fire has two currencies. According to Garena's support team, gold is earned entirely in the game, from matches, daily missions, pass objectives and levelling up, and buys some store items, Gold Royale spins, skill slots and some characters; there is a daily limit on the gold you earn from matches. Diamonds are the currency you buy with real money, and they are what most events and the premium store use.
| Currency | How you get it | What it buys |
|---|---|---|
| Diamonds | Bought with real money; some from memberships and events | Booyah Pass Premium and Premium Plus, characters, skins and bundles in the store, Diamond Royale, Weapon Royale, the Incubator and most events |
| Gold | Earned by playing, with a daily cap from matches | Some store items and characters, Gold Royale, creating a guild, unlocking skill slots |
The Booyah Pass
The Booyah Pass is Free Fire's monthly pass, and it lasts 30 days. Everyone can earn rewards on the Free Pass by completing missions. With diamonds you unlock the Premium pass, or Premium Plus, which gives everything in Premium plus 50 extra levels straight away. A Premium pass only covers the pass period you bought it for, so each new pass has to be bought again. It also unlocks four pass-exclusive emote slots. You will still see the older name "Elite Pass" on some store pages, including ours; in the game today, Garena calls it the Booyah Pass.
Luck Royale
Luck Royale is the in-game draw system. In Diamond Royale, you spend diamonds or vouchers on single spins or on ten spins with one extra free spin, for a chance at permanent outfits, emotes and other rewards, with bonus rewards at set spin counts. Duplicate costumes turn into tokens for the Exchange Store. Draws are chance-based, so decide your budget before you start spinning.
Memberships and Prime Diamonds
Garena also sells Weekly Lite, Weekly and Monthly Memberships, which pay rewards when you buy and then a daily check-in reward; first-time subscribers to each membership receive 100 bonus diamonds. OB55 added Prime Diamonds: spending diamonds in one month earns Prime Diamonds that you unlock by topping up any amount the following month and can use on Luck Royale and the Booyah Pass before they expire at the end of that month.
Diamond packs, regions and servers
Diamonds are sold in fixed packs, and the pack sizes, bonuses and prices depend on your region and on where you buy. Garena often runs top-up events where reaching a total gives extra rewards, and a first top-up usually gives a free skin and/or extra diamonds. Because all of this changes by patch and by region, we do not quote prices here; our Free Fire hub shows the packs we carry and their current prices by region.
Region matters. Free Fire accounts live on regional servers, and Garena lists a separate customer service team for each server, from Singapore, India and Europe to Brazil, North America and the Middle East, which has Arabic and French support. Top-ups, redemption codes and events can be region-specific, which is why Garena's own redemption steps tell you to check that your nickname and region are correct before confirming. If you pay with a Google Play card, Garena's support notes that gift cards only work in the country where they were bought.
How to top up Free Fire diamonds, step by step
There are two official routes, one gift-card route and one store route. They all end with diamonds in your account, but they differ in who you pay, what you share and who handles problems.
Option 1: the in-game store
- Open Free Fire or Free Fire MAX and tap the diamond icon at the top of the lobby to open the Top Up page.
- Choose a diamond pack, a membership or a special offer.
- Pay through Google Play or the App Store with the payment method on that account.
Option 2: the Garena Topup Center
The official Free Fire website links to the Garena Topup Center, Garena's own web shop, and Garena runs separate centres for different regions. On each one you log in with your player ID or your game account, choose a diamond pack (and in some regions a membership), and pay with the methods offered there. The US Topup Center, for example, lists PayPal, card payment, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Venmo; other regions show their own local options.
- Open the Topup Center for your region from the official Free Fire site and choose Free Fire.
- Log in with the player ID shown on your in-game profile and check the nickname that appears.
- Pick a pack, pay with one of the listed methods, and check your balance in the game.
Option 3: a gift card, then an official route
If you do not have a card that works online, buy a Google Play gift card or an App Store gift card for your account's country and spend it in the in-game store. Where your region's Topup Center accepts Razer Gold, a Razer Gold card loaded to your Razer Gold wallet is another way to pay. On The Nexus these cards are delivered as codes that you redeem yourself.
Option 4: a player-ID top-up through The Nexus
- Open our Free Fire hub and pick the region and diamond pack you want.
- Read the delivery method on the product page before you pay. For diamonds it is a player-ID top-up: you enter your player ID, never your password.
- Pay with one of the methods shown at checkout. In Egypt these include Vodafone Cash and InstaPay.
- Follow your order page until the order shows as delivered, then check your diamond balance in the game.
Know what "official" means before you pick a seller, including us. Garena's own advice is to always make purchases using official channels only. Its terms say virtual currency can also be bought from certain authorized third parties, whose own terms then apply. The Nexus is an independent store and we do not claim to be a Garena partner. If you want to stay strictly inside Garena's advice, use Options 1 to 3.
Ways to get Free Fire diamonds compared
| Route | Who you pay | What you share | Official Garena channel? | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| In-game store | Google or Apple | Nothing beyond your app-store account | Yes | Refunds go through Google or Apple, and reversing a purchase leaves negative diamonds |
| Garena Topup Center | Garena | Your player ID or game login | Yes | Regional centres with local payment methods |
| Gift card, then in-game or Topup Center | The card seller, then Google, Apple or Garena | Nothing; you redeem the code yourself | Yes, the purchase happens on an official route | The card must match your account's country and the methods your region accepts |
| The Nexus player-ID top-up | The Nexus | Your player ID, never your password | No, an independent store | Local payment methods and a tracked order page |
| Events, codes and memberships | Nobody, or Garena for memberships | Your login on the official redemption site | Yes | Codes usually give items, and many are one-time and region-specific |
Free diamonds, codes and events
Garena is direct about this: it cannot offer free diamonds, because that would be unfair to other players. What you can get for free are items: characters from levelling up, rewards from pass missions, some Luck Royale spins, time-limited events, guild and rank tokens, and official redemption codes. Codes have 12 characters, are redeemed on Garena's official reward site with a bound (not guest) account, are usually one-time and sometimes region-specific, and the reward arrives by in-game mail.
Keeping your account and money protected
- Ignore free or cheap diamond offers. Garena warns that anyone offering them has probably targeted you to get at your account or your card, and that people who ask for your login are scammers.
- Bind your account and add a recovery email. Guest accounts can be lost with an update or a new phone. Bind to a platform account, turn on two-step verification there, and check your login history for unknown devices.
- Never buy, sell or share an account. Garena says account sharing, buying or selling breaks its Terms of Service and can lead to a permanent ban.
- Do not ask Google or Apple for a refund on diamonds you received. A reversed purchase leaves negative diamonds that you must top up before the restriction is lifted. If diamonds are late, contact Garena's support after 24 hours instead.
- Know the refund rules. Garena's terms say purchases of virtual currency are final unless the law or an offer says otherwise; app-store refunds follow Apple's and Google Play's policies. For our store, read our refund policy.
- Nobody legitimate asks you to pay with gift-card numbers. The US Federal Trade Commission says only scammers ask for payment that way.
Which route should you choose?
If your app store accepts your card, the in-game store is the simplest route and keeps refunds with Google or Apple. If you want local payment methods or memberships from Garena directly, the Topup Center is the official web option and only needs your player ID. If you have no card at all, an app-store or Razer Gold gift card for your country gets you onto an official route. A store top-up by player ID is the most flexible on payment, but it is not a Garena channel, so choose it knowing that. You can read how ordering works on our how it works page.
How we keep this guide accurate
Every statement in this guide about how Free Fire works comes from Garena's own pages (the official site, patch notes, support articles and terms) or the app-store and consumer-protection pages linked in the text and in the source list below, and was checked on the date shown at the top. Pass names, ranked rules and top-up events change with each OB patch, so we review this page after major updates. If you spot something out of date, use the correction link at the end of the article and we will fix it.
Frequently asked questions
What are diamonds in Free Fire?
Diamonds are Free Fire’s paid currency, bought with real money. They buy the Booyah Pass Premium and Premium Plus, characters, skins and bundles, Diamond Royale spins and most events. Gold, the other currency, is earned by playing.
What is the official way to top up Free Fire diamonds?
The official routes are the in-game Top Up page, paid through Google Play or the App Store, and the Garena Topup Center linked from the official Free Fire website. The Topup Center lets you log in with your player ID.
Do Free Fire and Free Fire MAX share diamonds?
Yes. Garena says account progress and items are synced between the two apps, so a bound account has the same diamond balance in both. Guest accounts are not linked between Free Fire and Free Fire MAX, so bind yours first.
Is the Elite Pass the same as the Booyah Pass?
In the game today Garena calls its monthly pass the Booyah Pass, with Free, Premium and Premium Plus versions. Some store pages still say Elite Pass. Each pass lasts 30 days and must be bought again for the next one.
What are the ranks in Free Fire?
Garena’s ranked page lists six divisions: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Heroic, each with sub-divisions. Ranked Mode unlocks at level 8 for linked accounts or level 12 for guest accounts, and ranks reset each season.
Can I get free diamonds in Free Fire?
Garena says it cannot give out free diamonds because that would be unfair to other players. You can earn free items through events, pass missions, rank tokens and official redemption codes. Any site offering free diamonds is very likely a scam.
Why do I have negative diamonds?
Negative diamonds appear when a purchase was refunded through Google or Apple after the diamonds were delivered. You have to top up the amount shown to remove the restriction, even if someone else asked for the refund.
Does my top-up need to match my Free Fire region?
Yes. Free Fire accounts live on regional servers and top-ups, codes and events can be region-specific. Check that the nickname and region shown before you pay match your account.
