What each stat does

• +85 Ability Power Raises the damage, healing and shielding of ability-based champions.
• +20% Ability Haste Shortens the cooldown of your abilities, so you cast more often.
• +300 Mana A bigger mana pool for champions that spend mana on abilities.
• +7 MagicPenPercent Ignores a share of the target's magic resist, so magic damage hurts tanks more.

Three common mistakes

1. Building it outside the lanes where reviewed builds use it: Mid Support
2. Buying ability power on a champion whose damage comes from basic attacks.
3. Treating it as the safe first item: it is the first purchase in only 11 / 11 reviewed builds.

Counts come from the reviewed champion builds in the Rift Lab. The three mistakes are Nexus editorial guidance chosen by what this item's data shows, not a statistic.
